HUMAN RIGHTS in the GULF COAST

AMNESTY REPORT - Un-Natural Disaster

Before Hurricanes Katrina and Rita wiped our Gulf Coast areas with
their catastrophic effects, populations of the Gulf Coast states of
Mississippi and Louisiana suffered severe LACK of ACCESS to adequate
HEALTHCARE and HOUSING.

Now nearly FIVE YEARS later, the recovery process lags for those who
need it most.

There is CONTINUED LACK of access.

There are people, known (under International Human Rights Standards as
IDPs, Internationally Displaced Persons, as a result of Katrina and
Rita. To me, this is unacceptable!

According to the report, one way to help prevent this additional
disasterous result is to AMEND the STAFFORD ACT to include human
rights principles that will ensure the rights to healthcare and
housing for ALL Disaster Survivors.
